My father. The sentence above says "Men who work cannot dream; and wisdom comes to us in dreams." a quote by Smohalla.
I don't mean that one shouldn't work at all. In Smohallas time, he was forced to work by an authority. Today we are forced to work, not by a person, but by ourselves. In a sence we are modern slaves. If you like your work, good. Do it 80 hours a week. But if you hate it, you are still forced to work 40 hours. In the ancient world having leisure was the way to go. Work was left to the slaves. A respected man in the society was one, who didn't work by his hands at all (reference: Aristotle's "Politics"). It's funny, isn't it? Today a man who has no work at all is not respected by society. Work - is that all in our life? There is certainly something wrong with this system. I think there are alternative ways. |
